Alice in Wonderland: Alice

I have a secret plan! That plan is to do not just a few shoots, but a whole collection of Alice in Wonderland inspired photos. This is the first of (hopefully!) many more :)

Self portraits, take one.

This is one of the scariest things I've ever done as a photographer! Yep, scarier than laying in the dirt or even standing on a ledge! I'm totally comfortable and relaxed at my rightful place, behind the camera. Being in front of it is a whole different ballpark! Having said all that, I'm really happy with how they turned out and I'm looking forward to doing this more often.

I saw this little guy on my deck a few mornings ago. Isn't he/she cute??

Sunset in October

For pictures like this, I really want to get a "super zoomy" lens, but for now I have to work with what I have.

Anyway, these were taken last night. I want to get better at sunset photography. Definitely something to work on!

Elder Severance

My friend Tim is leaving today to go on a two year mission trip in Brazil for The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints. I'm so proud of him!

The Evil Queen and the Magic Crow

This year I decided to celebrate Halloween in a different way. I'm doing shoots that tell a story. I'm also going to offer this as an option for clients.

I'm no writer, so I'll just give you the summery of what my little story is about.

My friend, Krissy is playing the role of the Evil queen in search of a crow with magical powers. When she finds the crow, she will do everything in her power to keep it safe. That's where the story ends for now. I'm allowing my imagination to fill in the rest.

Dabbling in the "vintage look"

I didn't go all the way with this shoot. I just wanted a slightly vintage look. I think that Mary almost looks like a little 50's housewife, and I love that! Here they are :)

Arachnophobia

Anyone who knows me well is aware of my fear of spiders. I have literally jumped up and down on the couch screaming to my very tolerant boyfriend, "kill it! KILL IT!"

Having said that, I'm also fascinated by spiders, especially their webs. I think that many would agree that while spiders are creepy, their webs are quite beautiful.

The other day I had the perfect opportunity to take some pictures of a spider. I'm not entirely sure what kind it was. I shot it through a glass door in my house, too terrified to open it. I had this irrational fear that if I opened the door, the spider would fly through it and attack me. Unlikely, but you never know.

This morning I got home from my first shift of work, which is when I shot the last picture.

My sister, Mary

So I have two sisters. Sarah lives in Texas along with her husband and two kiddies (with one on the way!) and Mary lives in Idaho and is just about done with her bachelor's degree in Child Development. She's also a very talented singer. Right now she's visiting me for a few weeks, and I told her that we have to take a ton of pictures. Here's the first batch! 

My boyfriend's "bad boy" side

Growing up, I was always under the impression that if a guy rode a motorcycle he was a "bad boy". When I found out that my boyfriend rode a -- and was very dedicated to -- his motorcycle, I contemplated whether or not it was a deal breaker. "Does that mean he's going to get sleeves of tattoos, wear bandannas, and grow his hair long?", I thought. Oops, wrong kind of motorcycle rider. Richard rides a sport bike. It's sleek and black. No handlebar mustache, and he wears a pretty exciting motorcycle suit. Turns out I'm okay with it after all. 

I cringe when Richard posts pictures of his bike taken with his camera phone, so I volunteered to snap a few and get my Photoshop on ;)

When your friends are some of the best models EVER!

A couple of times a year, a few close friends and I get together and have a party. That party almost ALWAYS involves a photo shoot at some point. My friends get awesome new profile pictures, and I get to experiment with camera settings and photo shop actions. I'ts a win-win. These are some of the best pictures we came out with :)
